ZOMBIE, Zombie...

Sara’s micro zombie pony turned out pretty gory...

Not something I usually tackle, but very fun to create!

B(u)y A Hare

Well, yesterday was “International Rabbit Day” and I did manage to find some Schleich and Collecta goodies including this fellow:

I am also coming down to the wire as I finish models for Spooky Swap!  I will
Ship out at the end of the week just before the deadline.  I don’t like to post Spoiler photos but sometimes will do sneak peeks or discuss my projects.

I already gave Sara her SM etchie mustang before the show, but am putting together the rest of her Halloween bag so she saw her tiny zombie horse in progress.  Micro gore!  My Blab Swap partner noted some favorite molds and colors, so her buckskin SM is just about done.  I also opted to include a micro mummy horse along with her treats amen Spooky goodies.  FUN!

Hope to finish some projects and continue rest today as my head and back hurt.  Getting ready for another busy week!

I Love Thrifting! Miniatures...

Tiny Treasures are amazing.  I also have a particular addiction to little containers of all
types.  I use them too!  Great for organizing and storage of miniatures, art and office supplies, and model goodies.  At least that is how I look at them.

Check out this teeny news stand!  I liked the scene and details.  The backside will
serve in model photography.

Ah, little boxes and containers!  Plain or ornate, and any material!  Plastic, wood, metal, glass...even cardboard and woven aren’t safe.  I am simply drawn to lots of tiny containers.  Coworkers even save their little candy and mint containers for me - Altoids tins are awesome.  I am happy to repurpose or create with them, and some have been put to use holding tiny things in everyday life.

Here are some recent finds of ornate containers...
Does anyone else have obsession with little tiny containers?  I hope
to find some more 35 mm film canisters sometime...

Happy Weekend!!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I don’t mind some rain or a really good storm, but days of rain and days of pain coupled with a busy week and tasks that require some dry sunshine piled up have me semi-frustrated.

I will try to make the best of it and plan some indoor time and painting.
Need to dig through cards and figure out mini show string.  Need to finish some models
and prepare my Spooky Swap for deployment.

Supposing now that Fall is officially here, it is time to wrap up some Summer things.  I love Autumn!
Perhaps this big rain (complete with BIG Boom thunder and flashes of lightning) is the transition time I need for that.  What’s on YOUR seasonal change agenda???

Studio Plans

Work plan priorities taking shape this week with the “wrapping up” of Spooky Swap pieces, shipping out a commission and a trade, and organizing the completion of a couple minis for my show string.  One is a portrait piece I did in honor of a horse I rode in Ireland, the other a mini foal.

I am keeping two full slots for gift commission pieces, one a Blab PIF, the other a donated custom.  This will leave me with two open slots in the pony front.  If I am able to find time, I have a couple tack projects to try.  The other project is to tackle some micros this winter and prep models
and medallions for later.

I am keeping some photos hidden due to surprise swap, but in lieu of works-in-progress, will share a few colorways I am researching...

Clinky minis...Mysterious

I am not a Clinky collector for the most part.  Breakables can be scary and don’t ship/store/travel
well.  That being said, I whittled Breyer porcelains down to a scant few.  I still retain my beloved SM porcelains, but lack a couple.  Saw this in a 2005 magazine - were they not released to the public?  I can’t find info and am sad that they don’t exist.

Anybody have info on these Porcelain SMs?  The only others I know of were the 4 and the BF SRs.

Would love to have them if they exist!

Pain Management

No secret, as we age, many of us deal with aches and pains from various conditions.  Today is such an acute pain day I can’t stand it.

Kathy Bogucki’s whimsical reminder makes me smile:

Weekly Winner: G1 SM love!

Having so many greats to choose from is not easy....

Eternal Flame, TB Stallion
Glossy G1 Stablemate Swaps

Thought I’d go with a recent winner in Blab’s photo Show from the summer - this old
Mini has held his own in live and photo showing along with my Native Dancer and a TB mare.

I adore rich color, crisp markings, and gloss on minis does not bother me as it often does on larger scale models.  Overall, I love Love sculpts and G1 stablemates are some of the best!

Recuperate/Relax

Sunday reading old hobby publications!

Travel takes a lot out of me to begin with, but the weather pressure and rain have really made me painful.  Had a great time yesterday! Between headache and threatened migraine and the joint aches and back pain, today needed to be restful.  Good to see Julie and Sam and Melody and lotsa Boxers!
Also saw Lisa and got to visit critters!  Baby Alpacas rival chinchillas in softness.  Amazing!

Feral Kitten 1 captured

I always say “Cats Happen”.

They show up as this one did the remaining days of August.  Cute little
thing pouncing on bugs in the grass.  Unfortunately, they are also a real
problem in this town, with cats fighting in the streets and overpopulation.  As a public health hazard, feral cats carry disease and parasites.

I am pro-welfare and believe in spay/neuter and humane methods.  This little
Gal/Guy was soon joined by a couple siblings.  They hang out in the front of the house, playing and dozing in the sun, hiding in nearby bushes when spooked or during rain.

We have shelters that are full, clinics that can’t take them on, and a true issue with lack of resources when it comes to what to do with cats here.  Animal Control WILL NOT TAKE THEM!!!  We have to take matters into our own hands and find willing people to pay for alteration/veterinary care who also are dedicated to taking time to tame a feral kitten and rehome them.  Sooo, I have purchased a humane trap and bait/check regularly.  Amongst the three Black was first to trigger it.  I have a couple
Homes lined up willing to take on this new project.  Now, to get my trap back and re-bait for the tiger tabby and white-with-hat.  More crates, gloves, and supplies await.  Huzzah!

Trade for a Vingerling Miss Lizzie resin and lovely Western saddle...I envision snowflake Appaloosa.

The little CollectA Shetland is adorable!  Ryan is my new Hunter handler.  Do you think he’s dreamy?  Busy weekend ahead...

SCHNOZ

This is a Proboscis (large nosed) Monkey.

Jen and I noticed long ago our girls move their noses when sniffing, and it made us laugh.  Our breed standard says nose should be set on as an extension of the muzzle after all!  Well developed, fleshy, powerful!  Here is Cola twitching her schnozzle.  We call them Proboscis Nose when they do this!

Cola is actually usually quite cute and demure.  Still, she makes me laugh and we had a talk about her nose just last night.

Anyone else seen this?!?  Hahahaha. Love our pooches and their powerful honkers.

                                  Happy Wednesday!

Meet My (ornery) Mule!

This little Spotted Mule Gelding started as a pastel project in showing layers while
working on May Medallion Madness.  Sara became obsessed with a new medium, I indulged in some spotty patterning, and a 7/8 completed mini joined the Work In Progress herd.

Sometimes while on the phone or otherwise distracted, I pick up a brush and finish things.

Who’s in my creepy graveyard, spooking and kicking?  Who dares to look over their shoulder and bray at a passerby or a barn cat, kick over a bucket, or perhaps nail a pumpkin?  This feisty dude.

Meet Panicattthedisco - he’s a bit crankass, but settles down once the hay and grain are served!

I have a couple small ones near completion - hope to finish more soon!

Weekly Winner - a nice BF memory

I had been focusing on some “firsts” and then looking at most recent acquisitions.

Here is someone in-between:
“Chai” is the Breyerfest Celebration Molokai done on the Big Ben Mold.  Handsome Dude!!!

I have had the regular run Big Ben, golden Nautical, and dapple Gray, but this is the sole survivor of that conga.  He has shown successfully and holds fond memories of that very hot anniversary year enjoyed in the A/C of the covered arena with frozen lemon ice.  I originally had collected all of the BF dinner/celebration models up until a few years ago.  Only a few remain in my collection.

While not particularly rare or valuable, he holds a certain factor I just can’t put my finger on.  Love the rich bay color and appreciate this Moody mold.  Which model is like that for you?

Glow In The Dark!

I was recently explaining my dislike of unicorns and other fantasy creatures in my collection despite having a few “unrealistic” deco type models.  I have a general rule that I will not keep unicorns in my collection, and while I create fantasy and deco pieces, I generally don’t wish to own and show them.

That being said, I would gladly host a bevy of different types of classes for kirins, sleipnirs, centaurs, pegasii, dragon horses, wildlife hybrid horses and the different types of unicorns that would be in wetlands, deserts, or polar environments.  Fantasy divisions allow for that creativity, which I appreciate.

So I do own “non-realistic” models with wild markings, gloss, or themes.  Yesterday I acquired another I cannot resist:  Glow In The Dark stablemates!  I do have the BF Andy keychain and have appreciated the various Traditional Halloween horses, but in keeping it small, these are where it’s at.
I would so love a mini Cryptic!!!  The new classic Mason with intricate paint design glows and is lovely.

Perhaps it is Halloween that made me do it?

Perhaps it is my 80’s childhood that likes the glow aspect.  Last night’s mega thunderstorm
And power outage had me waking up periodically, and the reassurance of these mighty little
Ponies was a bit of comfort.  Do you collect “glowies”?  How do you feel about other materials, like Clearware and flockies, and fantasy or deco models in your collection?

New Ponehs!

This is a very Model-ful weekend with TJS in CO and FAMulous Collectibility in IN.  Cheering on those showing!  Here at the homefront I managed to score my much-wanted LP Truly Unsurpassed and SMs.  Yesterday was full of model chat with Sara over good eats and she delivered my micro Obsidian as well as a surprises Halloween polish pony!  Digging dia de la meurte themes.

I also was able to find her the chase pieces she was after and located some fun goodies.  Yay!

On Kindness and Behavior

Our society, culture, and world are full of ever-changing social mores and customs.  One that seems to have devolved over time is the basic human decency in being kind and understanding.  It is sad to see more and more behavior that lacks empathy.  It shouldn’t matter if we know or have experienced others’ Hardships, we should be able to show compassion because “everyone is fighting a battle”.

This is a daily Observation, not in response to any particular event.  Consider the Rotarian’s 4 Way Test.  The Golden Rule in its various versions throughout world faiths rings true - we should treat others as we wish to be treated.

Hope Everyone has a pleasant day - I am looking forward to the weekend!

Tiny Doggie Stuff

My TJS donations have been deployed to traveling Tiffany.  I always have fun creating for my little
Doggie crew!  This batch was created from a homemade cutout and miniature handsculpting.

I hope all the good doggies get rewards! :)  Here are some of the Shamrock Farms crew posing with goodies.  I look forward to pictures from the phenomenal show!  Good luck, everyone!

Weekly Winner: early Resins!

Remember DaBar?  Limited Moody sculpts and other artist offerings in cast resin?!?  I do!  Not only
were Customs (R/R/H) my obsession along with a healthy OF collection of the day, but I had been bitten by the resin bug.  SO many lovely ponies to paint or have painted!!!

Meet “The Mighty Quinn”!

This saggy baggy lil pony dude was one of those earlier resins (D’arry sculpt) and the first resin I painted.  I know there were others...my Minuet, Utopia (whom I Adore!), Bizet...

The Resin Registry book came out and the DaBar fliers were drooled over...with limited editions offered and Unlimited potential as far as painting went!!!  Oh, the possibilities!
Quinn may never be a beauty prince that snags championships, but he is a cutie pie and started a love affair with all the very many ponies that grace my shelves and populate my Showstring today!

I did manage to acquire a couple Eustis pieces and my amazing RRQH1.  They deserve their own posts some other time.  What early resins stole your heart?

Hope everybody’s week goes well!

Christmas Joy in September!

Yes, it’s true that we have Halloween and Christmas out together in the stores and quite early
at that.  I’m kinda over that.  I do like thinking ahead! Christmas in July has been a thing and can always be celebrated earlier or whenever - the spirit is what’s important!  I have been searching and trying to acquire Breyer’s Christmas blanket from last year since they were offered and sold
out last Fall.  Several times leads didn’t pan out!

Well, Blabbers are wonderful people.  Many of us participate in PIF - play it/pay it forward.  Some of us share wishlists online and spot things we can gift to fellow Blabbers.  Nothing is better than surprise happy mail!  Yesterday the amazing fastapp sent me a Sweet Christmas card and the elusive blanket!  I promptly grabbed an appaloosa (Chances Are) to model it for a thank you picture.

I really like blankets and halters & this one is fabulous for the holiday season!  THANK YOU Elise!
